Meet In This Together expert Dr. Lee Spitzer

Last Monday, we captured our second In This Together interview. Dr. Lee Spitzer, author of Making Friends, Making Disciples, joined us to explain the positive and often-overlooked effects friendships have on church ministries.

Lee loves visiting museums with friends, so we found a museum here in Wake Forest to shoot his interview. But since Lee is from New Jersey, I had to ask some of my friends to be his friends in the video.

(In case you’re wondering, Lee assured us that he really does have friends.)

Last week, we also shot an In This Together interview in California with Dr. Tim Muehlhoff. And Lord willing, on Tuesday, we’ll record an In This Together interview with author and Bible teacher, Nancy Guthrie.

In This Together is a video-based resource that we’re working on. It will give pastors more bandwidth for ministry by equipping church members to build and sustain biblical friendships.

Sam leads the CareLeader team. As a seminary-trained, ordained pastor, Sam knows firsthand a pastor’s desire to provide effective care to hurting people in the church and community. Sam also leads Church Initiative’s editorial team and has written and produced a number of Church Initiative’s video-based small group curriculums. They include GriefShare second and third editions (2006, 2014), DivorceCare third edition (2012), and Single & Parenting (2011). Sam is also coauthor of Grieving with Hope: Finding Comfort as You Journey Through Loss.

Sam graduated from Howard University with a bachelor of arts in communications. After that he received a master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with an emphasis in Christian education. Sam has also served on staff as a discipleship pastor at Infinity Church in Laurel, MD.
